have exploded in popularity these days, and with good reason. They are easy to create, get you a whole lot of love from Google, and visitors LOVE them.
Let’s take a look at why these types of posts are so
powerful, and exactly what they are.
Roundup posts take several articles or videos on a single
subject and gather them into one post.
Example roundup titles include:
* The 10 Best Recipes For Roast Chicken
* 6 Videos You Can’t Miss If You Love Fishing
Roundup posts are great for visitors, because they help
them find exactly the kind of content they are looking for
all in once place, and you have already done the hard work
of checking for quality for them. (Because you’ll only post
the best content, right?)
They’re also great for Google because:
1. They include multiple forms of media, such as pictures
and videos.
2. They link to authority sites, and Google loves to see
you linking to quality sites.
There are two main types of roundup posts:
* Article roundups
* Video roundups
In article roundups, you simply link to each article with
your own description of the article. This is what gives you
unique content for your site, so write good descriptions
of the content, and use keywords when you can.
When choosing content for roundup posts, you want to
choose articles on authority sites, because linking to good
quality sites actually gives YOUR site a boost in the
rankings. I know that may be surprising, but Google does
like to see you linking TO authority sites as well as
having links FROM authority sites.
Be sure to have your links open in a new window to keep
people on your site as long as possible. You want them to
view as many pages as possible on your site to reduce your
bounce rate!
For video roundups, instead of linking to the videos, be
sure to embed them into your post. This keeps people on
your site longer, and hopefully they will view at least
one more article while they are there, which helps reduce
your bounce rate like opening articles in a new window.
Roundup posts will save you tons of time, because aside
from finding the articles or videos you want to include and
reading or watching them so you can write up your unique
description, they require little to no additional research.
Tomorrow we’re going to take a look at ways you can get
other people to write content for you without paying them,
so you definitely do NOT want to miss it!
